Liz Phair Has Been Performing Her Biggest Hit With Holiday-Themed Lyrics

Liz Phair

The iconic creator of one of SPIN‘s ten favorite albums of the last 30 years, Liz Phair has been on tour with Aimee Mann and Ted Leo for their annual holiday tour (which as it happens, is Phair’s first stint since 2011), which is a treat in itself. But the always-affable singer-songwriter has been going the extra mile by changing the lyrics to her biggest hit single, 2003’s “Why Can’t I?” to reflect the mistletoe season, effectively turning it into “Why Can’t I Wreath?” and singing about alpine forest smells and the spirit of giving. Mann and Phair have been playing “Winter Wonderland” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” on this tour as well.

Watch a video of her performing the song at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer below (with Mann on backup vocals, and a hilarious aside about scented candles from guest John Roderick of the Long Winters).
