Hudson Mohawke Takes His ‘Very First Breath’ in New Video

'Lantern' drops on June 16 via Warp

Hudson Mohawke has a new video for his Lantern single “Very First Breath.” Directed by Sam de Jong, the noir clip has two makeup-smeared characters discussing plans to meet over the phone. What follows is… Well, we shouldn’t spoil anything, but let’s just say that the end result looks like what would happen if West Side Story was helmed by Tim Burton circa the Batman years.

Commenting on the track in a press release, HudMo said the following:

“Very First Breath” was something fresh for me. I’d been touring on the same circuit for a couple of years with Irfane and I had been so busy on TNGHT stuff I was itching to work on more song structured record… The album flows through the passage of the day and in my head, I see this song as the very beginning of the record. The sun just coming up. It was important this was the first track people hear.

Watch it above, and grab Lantern on June 16 via Warp.
