It’s natural to love a musician for his or her art, but it’s equally nice — if not better — to find out that they’re a decent person, too. That’s what Cloud Nothings frontman Dylan Baldi talks about in an exclusive #STANDFORSOMETHING interview with Dr. Martens at their South By Southwest 2015 showcase, at which the post-hardcore band performed. “Occasionally we’ll play with, like, a really famous band or something, and sometimes they’re horrible people,” he explained.
Baldi continues, explaining that talent does not equate to egotism: “I don’t ever want to end up like that. I guess that’s a life lesson: It’s nice to be nice.” Watch Baldi talk values and see Cloud Nothings perform “Fall In” — from their 2012 LP, Attack on Memory — at SXSW above.
