Earlier this month Neil Young released Storytone, his second LP from 2014, which features the beloved singer/songwriter performing with a 92-piece orchestra, a 60-piece orchestra and a choir, and a big band. Numbers don’t seem to matter to Young, though, when he’s got the environment on his mind. The album’s anthemic first single, “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?” focuses on said concern, and finds the 69-year-old icon gruffly asking his listeners over chunky guitar riffs, “Who’s gonna stand up and save the Earth?”
The video alternates between live performance footage, flashes of human-made disasters — droughts, deforestation, oil spills, air pollution, among them — and shots of protesters. Watch the clip above, and buy Storytone here.
