Bruno Mars’ showmanlike Super Bowl halftime show already looked like a victory for the Unorthodox Jukebox singer, but now he has the math to back that up. Though the Seattle Seahawks’ crushing defeat of the Denver Broncos in the big game was already well underway, Mars’ performance with the Red Hot Chili Peppers drew more viewers than any previous Super Bowl halftime show. According to Billboard, FOX pointed to Nielsen data today indicating the show brought in 115.3 million sets of eyeballs. That’s up from the 110.8 million who watched Beyoncé’s lights-out performance last year and breaks the previous record of 114 million set by Madonna, M.I.A., and Nicki Minaj in 2012. And to think, as Fansided pointed out, RHCP didn’t even appear to have their instruments plugged in.
