After years of false starts and teases, the Dirtbombs’ long-promised bubblegum-pop record will finally see the light on September 17. The trollishly titled Ooey Gooey Chewy Ka-Blooey! has already yielded one single, the That Thing You Do!-nodding “Crazy for You,” and now Mick Collins’ garage-wrecking crew have shared a second sweet sample of their Party Store follow-up. “Girl on the Carousel” moves at a gentle pace, nestling comfortably into the Detroit outfit’s newfound kid-friendly aesthetic. Collins’ lilting vocals ride steady, repetitive guitar strums while illustrating an idyllic scene: “The clouds part and I see her smile from where I stand,” he sings, “And I go up and take her hand.” To hear the song’s lovestruck duo hop onto the horses that “go up and down,” stream the oboe-enriched track below.
