“Music can be so meaningless,” the Knife tweeted last December upon announcing new album Shaking the Habitual. “We had to find lust.” After sharing brilliant, gender-savvy videos for the gripping, gargantuan “Full of Fire” and plastic-Caribbean “A Tooth for an Eye,” the Swedish electro-pop savants have now pulled back the curtains on the music from the album, out April 9. Determine for yourself whether it’s lust — or, possibly, love? — by listening over at the Knife’s website. And if you don’t like music or lust, at least take a gander at the band’s grand LP manifesto, which pointedly, if silently, exclaims, “No habits!”
