Morrissey Now Has Pneumonia in Both Lungs But Plans to Perform This Week

Stop us if you think you’ve heard this one beforeThat joke isn’t funny anymore. In recent weeks, Morrissey was trying to turn Los Angeles’ Staples Center meatless, and ducking out on late-night TV hosts over something called Duck Dynasty. Earlier, though, the former Smiths singer’s extra-musical headlines were of a less-amusing variety, as he repeatedly canceled shows citing health problems

Now the medical concerns are back, and though on the surface they sound more serious than ever, Morrissey plans to return to the stage as early as Thursday. As fan site True to You reported over the weekend, Moz was forced to postpone a San Francisco show while he received treatment for (their quotes) “double pneumonia.” According to the report, he’s still on track to headline Mexico City’s Vive Latino festival on March 14, while the concert at San Fransciso’s Regency Ballroom has been pushed back to May 1.

Health worries aside, Morrissey remains as wryly catty as ever. He reportedly apologized for what he called “extreme and silly” venue security during a March 8 show in Portland, Oregon, saying, “Place an obese McDonald’s fry girl into a venue security uniform and she is suddenly Eva Braun.” Forget about the man’s lungs. Clearly, now his heart is full.
