Impact Award-winning and seminal lyrical looping frontman Stephen Malkmus has exposed efforts towards a “BIG” new album via a website post. The bulletin also revealed that “basic trax” have been “committed to tape” in a Northern Montana studio (where “it was easy to stay indoors and focus on the riffage”) and that the follow up to 2005’s Face the Truth may drop sooner than later. “Looks to be done sometime in Late June. Apparently, the songs are so BIG that Matador is pushing for an early 2008 release.” The forthcoming album, which the post claims is “67.4685% completed,” will feature his band, the Jicks, and a new member: former Sleater-Kinney stickwoman Janet Weiss.
