Jack White, Billy Corgan Help Shirley Manson on Solo Album

Semi-megalomaniacal frontmen Jack White and Billy Corgan will lend a hand on the forthcoming solo album from Shirley Manson, the fiery voice of Garbage. Neither fellow is a stranger to working with dynamic women: White honed his production chops with Loretta Lynn on her lauded 2004 album, Van Lear Rose, while Corgan has been Courtney Love’s studio pal since Hole’s 1998 release, Celebrity Skin. According to various sources, Manson’s album will see the light of day sometime in 2007.

Next year will also see the release of Absolute Garbage, a career retrospective for Manson’s band Garbage, which is on some sort of indefinite hiatus; a year ago, Manson said the band would never tour again.

Absolute Garbage tracklisting, according to NME:

“Vow”
“Queer”
“Only Happy When It Rains”
“Stupid Girl”
“Milk”
“#1 Crush”
“Push It”
“I Think I”m Paranoid”
“Special”
“When I Grow Up”
“You Look So Fine”
“The World Is Not Enough”
“Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go)”
“Shut Your Mouth”
“Why Do You Love Me”
“Bleed Like Me”
“It”s All Over But the Crying”
“New track (untitled)”

Talk: Aren’t there any other awesome producers Manson could work with? And why all dudes? COMMENT
