Mariah Carey strutted away from the platform with three trophies from this year’s Vibe Awards, which were taped Saturday, Nov. 12 in Los Angeles. Even though Miss Mariah wasn’t on hand to receive her first award for R&B voice of the year, she accepted the other two with trademark tenacity, telling her fans, “Whatever you’re going through in your life, don’t ever give up.” Other highlights of the event included a Hurricane Katrina tribute by Gulf Coast natives Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Lil’ Wayne, and David Banner.
