No one could've blamed ex–Exploding Hearts guitarist Terry Six if he'd given up on music after a tragic 2003 van accident took the lives of his three young bandmates. But as frontman of Portland's Nice Boys, Six pays tribute to his pals in a much more meaningful way, kicking out deliciously tinny, high-glam power pop so full of life that it completely avoids the record-collector tedium of most retro rock. It's a throwback with real heart.
