Your Friend Welcomes You to Lawrence, Kansas, in Ace 'Tame One' Video

'Jekyll/Hyde' EP is out now digitally and April 8 physically via Domino

Marc Hogan

Lawrence, Kansas, is in the midst of a deep-red state, but this college town has a bustling music scene. "Tame One," from Lawrence transplant Taryn Blake Miller, likewise starts out windswept and austere, just melancholy guitar and a high, piercing vocal, but blossoms out to a Local Natives-like whir of harmony and instrumentation. The song comes from Miller's six-song debut EP as Your Friend, Jekyll/Hyde, out now digitally and available as a CD or vinyl 12-inch on April 8 from Domino.

Above, watch the Dalton and Austin Paley-directed video, which goes from patient black-and-white to rapidfire color as it lovingly documents the Lawrence music community. There's a rap lyric or something about how (sorry) we're not in a certain place anymore. As for this "One," it isn't so tame, either.
