We the Kings
Who? We the Kings is a foursome of young men from Bradenton, Florida. Comprised of Travis Clark on lead vocals and guitar, Hunter Thomsen on guitar and vocals, Drew Thomsen on bass, and Danny Duncan on drums, the band's self-titled debut LP is out now on the S-Curve label. They will spend the New Year touring the U.S. with Cobra Starship.
What's the Deal? This is the sound of a million suburban teenagers hating their parents in unison -- which isn't necessarily a bad thing, considering that the four Kings all hover pretty close in age to their prospective fanbase. "Check Yes Juliet" transplants the Shakespearean lovers from the streets of Verona to the halls of high school with sugary hooks. "The Quiet" is anything but with its pop punk whinny and shout-along chorus, and "This Is Our Town" is the last song played at prom in the fictional universe of The OC that's continued after the show was cancelled.
Fun Fact: The band met while attending Martha B. King Middle School, hence their clever namesake, We the Kings.Â
