Quiet was the new loud last night on late-night TV. Slinky, minimalist British electro-poppers the xx stopped by Conan with a graceful rendition of “Angels,” the slow, swooning first single off their upcoming sophomore album, Coexist (due out September 11 via Young Turks). Beach House brought their similarly narcoticized “Wild,” from the smoldering Batimore dream-pop duo’s great new album Bloom, to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, putting Victoria Legrand’s smoke-filled voice on full display; Beach House also played another Bloom slow jam, “Wishes,” as a Web exclusive. Watch all three gorgeous, languid performances below, preferably not while operating heavy machinery.
