Folk-pop pair She & Him are plotting a new album, it'd seem. Today, Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward shared the old-timey 44-second teaser above which, visually, yields no more than a cryptic pan down onto a view of the Colosseum (or some similarly dilapidated Roman monument). But the song that plays overtop offers a bit more — specifically, a soft but electrified retro sound, with the New Girl star's blue voice lamenting a deceitful lover and M. Ward's guitar sounds pulling at heartstrings. Also, there are actual strings.

The song above is a cover of Carole King and Gerry Goffin's "Oh No Not My Baby," but the tone and topic could hint at the new album's themes. Regardless, the soul-cradling songcraft of this twee twosome seems set to offer solace to all lovers in turmoil. This project "coming this fall," according to the teaser, will be the duo's major label debut, with She & Him having left Merge for Columbia Records after their 2013 album, Volume 3.
