When he's not commandeering the stage as the boisterous bassist for SoCal punks Blink-182, Tweeting wisdom to more than 1.4 million followers, or handling album production duties for bands like Motion City Soundtrack and New Found Glory, you'd think Mark Hoppus would turn down the music.
Not. Possible.
In our new series, Hopp on Pop, Hoppus is sharing his favorite up-and-coming acts, culled from his incessant pursuit of all that rocks. (Click here to discover Mark's pick from last week, Canadian rock duo Japandroids.) Check out his second entry below, and come back to SPIN.com next Wednesday for Mark's next musical revelation.
Be sure to follow more of Mark's opinions and exploits via Twitter and on his blog!

fun. is fabulous. they play an incredible live show and definitely live up to their name. and they still play some of the format's songs at shows. they played "she doesn't get it' and "dog problems" and "snails" was on the setlist i got even though they didn't play it. nate ruess is way adorable too.

Great Pick! Love Aim & Ignite. It is contagious to listen to. Wonderful lyrics..."If you could see me... whoever I am"... and " I don't want to live my generation alone"... just great artistic work. Not only Nate.. but I saw Anthallo a couple of times and Andrew is a talented musician moving from piano to horn to percussion..etc... The hand claps, rhythm changes, ... and I caught Steel Train with Jack. fun. is a talented group with experience behind them. Great pick! Wish them the best of luck!

What is great about Fun. Is 1. it's FUN! 2. the more you listen to it, the more you find insanely clever and profound lyrics. When those two combine it equals musical MAGIC! They are an amazing live act, especially with Nate as the vocalist. He always lays everything on the table emotionally, and it is stunning.

The music's OK, but I just can't stand seeing any of their videos, live or music videos, because the singer just looks so... I'll break this down.
There was a bi-curious kid, who wanted a mix of a chick and Brad Pitt. Then he understood that he is gay and made this awkward mix a guy. That's what Nate looks like. When I first saw the video for "All The Pretty Girls", I wasn't sure if it was a dude in chick jeans or a dyke with a moustache. :D
But they sound good, so who gives a damn?

I really like this band. I typically like most of your picks, which could be why my computer moves at turtle speed- all these downloads are ruining my modem! Fun. does nothing but impress, you have officially made me a fan. They're no Blink, but hey, no one is filling those shoes.

Nothing new. Its good, but if your from the UK this is the typical rubbish you hear in any popular clothing line shop like Topman and will be popular for around 2 to 3 months. I'm not impressed. Nothing new. Tubelord! are where it's at kids in the UK! Come on Hoppus, get some good UK bands like Tubelord and Tellison in your good books and not this typical rubbish.

Tellison! now there's a band with a hell of a lot of catchy songs, hoppus should definitely hear 'contact! contact!'
