Grant-Lee Phillips Makes a 'Return'

It's good to see that Grant-Lee Phillips' duties as the resident "town troubadour" on TV's Gilmore Girls haven't prevented him from keeping up with his own singing-songwriting duties. Phillips (prior to his Stars Hollow gig) was best known as the force behind the band Grant Lee Buffalo, which garnered a cult status in the mid-'90s. Phillips' solo work has been strong on hazy pop rock and brooding ballads, and "Return to Love" from his most recent release, Strangelet is no exception. The video for "Return to Love" finds the tunesmith strolling on a foggy beach under a gothic black umbrella, watching the tide roll away (with the help of some video special effects). Strangelet is available now, rounding out Rounder Records.
