The L.A. outfit's latest, 'The False Alarms,' is due March 19 on Asthmatic Kitty

After nearly three years of carefully cultivated anonymity, L.A. synth-pop act Fol Chen is poised for an unveiling. In this new clip for the heady, bass-heavy "200 Words,"  Sinosa Loa — who joined the group in 2010 as a keyboardist and vocalist and handles lead vocals here — floats her way through both non-space and outer space, accompanied by menacing flares, satellites, and an astronaut with unclear intentions. Loa's layered vocals have this way of conjuring the otherworldly — now Fol Chen have a visual to match exactly that.
