  • Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch has finished recording songs for her second album, and producer Paul Epworth said "there really are no weak ones" among the tunes, adding that he's not sure how her label will be able to choose 10-12 tracks from the lot. "It's a weird record that sounds live in ways and like a machine in others, with sensitivity and power from both music and Flo's voice," Epworth posted on Twitter. Welch recorded the set at London's Abbey Road Studios; no release date has been announced.

  • Smashing Pumpkins have announced an intimate, 12-city U.S. tour for this Fall, where Billy Corgan and Co. will preview material from their next LP Oceania, now due out early next year. The trek kicks off October 5 in Los Angeles, CA, and wraps up on October 22 in Philadelphia, PA. [Smashing Pumpkins]

  • Pearl Jam dropped a sneak preview of the soundtrack to PJ20, their upcoming documentary feature, and it's an awesome live rarity. Culled from a gig in 2000, the Seattle rockers cover "Crown of Thorns" by Mother Love Bone, the fellow Jet City outfit that featured eventual Pearl Jam members Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, but whose career was derailed by the drug overdose of singer Andrew Wood. The PJ20 soundtrack arrives Sept. 20, the same day on which the film screens at theaters across the country. Visit the film's site for details.

The Icelandic group's project, titled Inni, will debut at the Venice Days festival in Italy. Details are scarce, but the group are collaborating with director Vincent Morrisset, who created Arcade Fire's interactive website for "Miroir Noir."

  • Eminem's next movie Southpaw, about a "fast-rising welterweight boxer," has been shelved by movie studio Dreamworks. No reason was given, but MTV speculates it was due to the large number of fighter movies scheduled for next year. Eminem, along with director Antoine Fuqua, are now free to pitch the project to other studios. [MTV]
