  • On her follow-up to 2009's breakout debut Lungs, Florence + the Machine's Florence Welch may be going in a spookier direction: the British pop star says her new songs are inspired by ghosts and her late grandmother. "A lot of the songs on the new album are about imaginary things," she says. "Things you can't touch: ghosts and rumors, my dead grandmother, things visiting you in a dream... It feels like I'm very much drawn to dark metaphors." [NME]

  • Liam Gallagher has already mapped out plans for Beady Eye's second album, which he hopes to release next summer. The ex-Oasis guitarist says to expect a "massive wall of sound, great anthems, and epic tunes," and that his band hopes to hit the studio in February. [MTV]

  • Odd Future's Frank Ocean has released a trippy video for his groovy R&B piano ballad "Acura Intergurl," which features the singer cruising around a serene mountain roads in an Acura NSX. Head over to his Tumblr to check it out.

  • Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino has offered up a stirring acoustic cover of Skeeter Davis' classic "End of the World," which she released in anticipation of this weekend's anti-climactic Rapture apocalypse. Check it out below.

  • Fleet Foxes dropped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last Friday to perform their gorgeous Helplessness Blues track "Sim Sala Bim." Check out footage here (via The Audio Perv).

  • With Wolf Parade playing what appear to be their final shows later this month, the group's members are focusing on side-projects this year. Spencer Krug has announced plans for his first full-length album with Moonface. He'll release an album titled Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped on August 2, and Pitchfork has a stream of lead track "Fast Peter." Dan Boeckner, meanwhile, will release his third album with Handsome Furs (featuring wife Alexei Perry) on June 28. Hear another cut from the album, titled "Repatriated," below, and head here to check out the very-NSFW album cover art.
