Just a year after they unleashed their sophomore set The Mistress, New York threesome (and former bedroom project) Yellow Ostrich are readying the release of strange land, a new full-length that finds them declaring themselves a fully formed, teeth-gnashing studio concern. You can hear as much in album cut "Marathon Runner," a slice of indie rock comfort food that sounds right at home on Barsuk, the Seattle label responsible for bringing you the mood-rocks of Death Cab for Cutie and Kind of Like Spitting. It's out March 6.
