Franz Ferdinand, Wolfmother, Avril Lavigne, Owl City, and Pete Wentz and Mark Hoppus, among others, have re-imagined songs from the 1951 movie classic Alice in Wonderland for Tim Burton’s psychedelic remake of the Disney film, in theatres March 5. The star-studded soundtrack drops March 2 — but you can preview most songs right now!

The 16-track album also features contributions from Motion City Soundtrack, All Time Low, Metro Station, and 3OH!3.

Avril’s “Alice” is a dark, haunting tune with reverberating piano and shifting synths; All-American Rejects’ “The Poison” is a tender ballad with acoustic guitar and hand drums; Plain White T’s’ song, “Welcome to Mystery,” is an eerie track with acoustic guitar, plinking organs, and lyrics about velvet skies.

Pete Wentz and Mark Hoppus’ song, “In Transit” — their first collaboration — is another moody track, with Hoppus on lead vocals addressing Alice as he sings about a “world filled with the lies of people.”

“Go down the hole / Drink from a bottle and never go home,” he croons in a voice more morose than found in any of his previous work.

“[It’s] nothing like Blink or Fall Out Boy,” Wentz recently said of the song. “Mark understands songwriting on a completely different level. It’s awesome to have a chance to sit in a room with him and watch him work out a melody.”
