The Dream Pavement Set List!

SPIN editors select the songs we hope to hear when the indie legends reunite for live gigs next year.

Pavement

This is just really great news. Nearly a full decade after the band's last show, it's been announced that indie-rock icons Pavement will be reuniting for a world tour in 2010, with their first "announced" gig going down in New York City September, 21, 2010.

Given that this news was, you know, just made official, we're probably already past due for some speculative wishful thinking. Below, SPIN's editors have compiled a list of the songs we hope Stephen Malkmus and Co. see fit to play when they next take the stage.

Agree? Disagree? Post your thoughts and your own set lists in the comments section.

You're going to make them play "Stop Breathin'" twice?! Cruel. Gotta get "Harness Your Hopes" in there.

Haha...no, we won't make them play it twice. Next-to-last, before "Cut Your Hair,' please.

You have to add their cover of The Killing Moon and Shady Lane in there. Maybe You Are a Light and Give It a Day, too. Also wouldn't mind hearing a few Malkmus songs thrown in. Now that Pavement's reuniting, maybe this means The Jicks are taking some time off. If so, Janet needs to get in contact with Carrie and Corin and talk about a Sleater-Kinney reunion.

Yeah, totally Shady Lane. But if they don't play Elevate Me Later, Debris Slide, Perfume-V or Fillmore Jive, I will moon the band. And believe me, no one wants that to happen.

I clicked on this link, fully prepared to argue the merits of your "dream" set list.

But yeah, I would be pretty happy to hear them run through these songs, in this order. No arguments, and closing it out with "Grounded" would be great. I know I'm not alone in thinking that's Pavement's best song.

Fortunately for me, I saw Pavement play in 1994, 1995 and 1997, so I've heard most, if not all, these songs in concert already. If the reunion shows suck, I'll always have the memories of these three great shows.

And oh yeah, I've seen Malkmus+Jicks once, in 2005. So even if I don't make it to one of the reunion shows, I can still die happy.
