Disclosure and Jessie Ware ‘Confess’ in Sultry ‘Jools Holland’ Appearance

Disclosure are critical darlings and pop stars now; their debut album Settle is both a SPIN Essential and the No. 1 album in the United Kingdom. But their first big break was a bright garage remix of Jessie Ware’s “Running.” The trio have played it live lately, including at Coachella this year. Now they’ve followed it up with a genuine collaboration, and Settle‘s penultimate entry, “Confess to Me.“The uptempo banger contrasts Ware’s smooth and soulful voice with dissonant blurts, and when performed live, as they did on Later… With Jools Holland last week, the track exudes a naked sensuality as the Lawrence brothers chant: “Confess to me, make me feel it / confide in me, don’t resent it.” With roots in Disclosure-influencer SBTRKT‘s jittery tracks “Right Thing to Do” and “Nervous,” which Ware made her name on, “Confess to Me” closes the circle.
