Charli XCX Doesn’t Need Iggy Azalea to Be ‘Fancy’

Charli XCX wrote the hook for Iggy Azalea’s hit single “Fancy,” so it’s a no-brainer that the “Boom Clap” singer would be able to make the song entirely her own again at some point. That’s just what she did on Tuesday night at Webster Hall in New York, when the 22-year-old performed a punkier version of this year’s song of the summer complete with a booming bass line.

The British starlet also nailed all of Azalea’s verses on the live version of what was actually the house duo GTA’s official “Fancy” remix. Thankfully, a fan snagged video footage on their phone for everyone else to see. Unfortunately it was filmed vertically, but beggars can’t be choosers.

In addition to “Fancy” last night, Charli sang a hard-nosed version of Icona Pop’s “I Love It,” which she also wrote and guested on. Sucker will now hit shelves on December 16.
