On March 2, Glasgow rock band Biffy Clyro will join author Mark Danielewski (House of Leaves) onstage at Los Angeles' Bootleg Theater for the fifth installment of the Liner Notes series, a special event presented by SPIN, Skylight Books, and the Bootleg that unites authors and musicians for an evening of collaboration -- and fundraising.

The event will feature performances by Biffy Clyro, readings by Danielewski, and an audience Q&A session exploring how Danielewski's 2006 novel Only Revolutions inspired the band's 2009 album of the same name.

All proceeds from this debut West Coast edition of Liner Notes will benefit Homeboy Industries, a Los Angeles-based non-profit that helps at-risk and former gang-involved youth become contributing members of the community. Free programs -- including counseling, education, tattoo removal, job training and job placement -- enable young people to redirect their lives and provide them with hope for their futures.

The show will be seated and super-intimate -- tickets are on sale now for $25. While capacity at the Bootleg Theater is limited, fans will be able to watch select videos from Liner Notes on SPIN.com in the days following the event.

Biffy Clyro headlines at Hollywood's famed Troubadour on March 1, as well. Tickets for that show are available here.

"We are over the moon to be sharing a stage with Mr. Danielewski," says Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil. "He is my favorite author. He completely changed my view of what a novel could be and what it could achieve."

"There are two occasions I will always remember with a great deal of affection: hearing my sister Poe's 'Angry Johnny' and Biffy Clyro's 'Mountains' for the first time on the radio," Danielewski says. "There's no greater compliment or privilege than having the chance to participate in a dialogue spoken almost exclusively through creative works."

Previous Liner Notes events, which raised over $33,000 for Housing Works, featured Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara partnering with author Augusten Burroughs, of Running With Scissors fame, Amanda Palmer sharing the stage with Coraline author Neil Gaiman, Satanic Verses scribe Salman Rushdie performing with Bay Area rockers Dredg, and Ben Folds collaborating with Nick Hornby.

SPIN.com contributing writer Emily Zemler curates Liner Notes, which sprung from her series of SPIN.com Book Club posts.
