Phantogram Sink Into “Same Old Blues” on New Song

Phantogram’s Three was originally scheduled to be released tomorrow (Setember 16). It’s since been delayed until October 7, so for now we’ll make do with the newly released “Same Old Blues.” Layering a clip-clopping beat over a fuzzy sample of a choir singing, the song finds an anguished Sarah Barthel channeling a hint of Alison Mosshart‘s neo-noir Western swag.

“I keep on having this dream where I’m stuck in a hole and I can’t get out,” Barthel laments. Between “Same Old Blues,” “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore,” “Cruel World,” and “Run Blood Run,” Three is indeed shaping up to be the dark and emotionally heavy album producer Ricky Reed promised. Listen to it below.
