Conor Oberst is getting ready to release new solo album Upside Down Mountain, and the latest offering from that LP is “Governor’s Ball.” It’s a blend of country, rock, and soul aided by a saxophone and backing vocals. Swedish sister act First Aid Kit, guitarist Blake Mills (Fiona Apple), and producer Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Dawes) also contributed to the album, which was recorded in Los Angeles, Omaha, and Nashville. Check out “Govenor’s Ball” and the cover for Upside Down Mountain below, then revisit the previously shared “Hundreds of Ways,” and pick up the album on May 19 via Nonesuch.
