Thurston Moore Wants to Invite Alice Cooper to Your Birthday Party

Chelsea Light Moving Thurston Moore House Party Alice Cooper

Last month we learned that Thurston Moore’s other band Chelsea Light Moving has set a release date for their forthcoming eponymous LP debut: March 5, via Matador Records. Along with a handful of MP3s from the release — see separate posts on “Burroughs” and “Groovy & Linda” — we also shared a snippet of the group’s artfully penned bio, which included a line now proving to be quite clutch: “The band is ready to detonate any birthday party, wedding or hullaboo in any country, planet or stratosphere that doesn’t support right wing extremist NRA sucking bozo-ology.”

Our pals at Brooklyn Vegan had the chutzpah to ask if the band really would go so far as to play someone’s personal event and, well, Moore was paying attention. Matador has confirmed, via Twitter, that the Sonic Youth ax-slinger/singer took to the site’s comments section to accept the challenge. His addition sparked a firestorm of responses, some alleging that the post was fraudulent, but most requesting that Chelsea Light Moving play his or her own garage, dorm, basement or whatever. Here’s the message from Thurston:

“i’m in London now – but i’m heading to east coast USA feb 16 — gonna conspire with the band and matador and figure out where to do this — i’m thinking sick house basement birthday party — gonna see about inviting some heavy peeps like alice cooper, negative approach, savages (from france!), trash kit (from uk!), ZZZs (from japan!) — or at least some local, wherever that may be, killer krusherzzzz!!! insanity approaches!!!!!”
