Voodoo Music Experience Books NIN, My Chem; Adds Camping

Make-up, madness, and mayhem are all in the equation for this year’s Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans. The fest, now in its seventh year, announced its initial line-up today, a bill that includes more than a few acts that should totally embrace the event’s timing: Halloween weekend (Oct. 29-30). Just imagine what kind of All Hallow’s Eve antics might be in store from bands like Nine Inch Nails, the Flaming Lips, and My Chemical Romance. Anne Rice has gotta love that. Of course, there are also a few bands scheduled to perform that prefer make-up for other reasons, like the Bravery and Louis XIV. Other notable Voodoo performers announced today include New York Dolls, Queens of the Stone Age, Billy Idol, Social Distortion, Secret Machines, Ryan Adams, the Decemberists, LCD Soundsystem, Death From Above 1979, the Giraffes, Cake, and many more.

Voodoo will also offer on-site camping space for the first time in its history, perhaps aiming to join California’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as a premier destination event for fans of the rock. And, since it’s the South, RV space is also available.

Two-day festival passes go on sale July 8 via Ticketmaster, and single-day tickets will be released for sale in September, pending availability.
