NYC’s Favourite Brooklyn Band

Favorite Sons delivered a frantic, searing hour of psych-kissed post-punk at Mercury Lounge last night. Their set, sandwiched between bluesy punks the Diggs and buzz-amassing garage-rockers the View, surged with tribal percussion, lingering math-rock leads, and singer Ken Griffin’s vibrato-heavy croon. Aptly, most of their songs seemed obsessed with siblings; Griffin constantly skewered home life, concluding with “Hang On Girl”‘s biting refrain: “With a happy family, you won’t find love.” STACEY ANDERSON / PHOTOS BY TANIA SEKA-KNOX
