Ricky Eat Acid Passes Around New ‘Triple Cup’

Sam Ray, the Baltimore-based musical omnivore behind a dozen different projects — who most recently released the 26-track opus It’s the Big Joyous Celebration, Let’s Stir the Honeypot with his band Teen Suicide — has a tradition of releasing new music on his birthday. Today, to celebrate his turning car-rental age, Ray’s sharing the spectral banger “Triple Cup” under his Ricky Eat Acid alias, the first music revealed from his electronic alternate identity since last year’s “Dear Lord.”

Ray describes the song (with trademark austerity) as “Waka Flocka Flame samples, [with] old school sine wave trance synths going up and into the stratosphere like some kind of weird molly volcano throwing up weird molly lava at the sky repeatedly.” Listen to the mesmerizing strobe-lit track here, and wish Ray a happy 25th if you see him opening for Say Anything on tour with Teen Suicide at any of these upcoming dates.
