On Tiësto and Oliver Heldens’ new track with the Dutch pop star Natalie La Rose, “The Right Song,” the trio craft a loud, ebullient track that, on its surface, seems like merely a night-out call to arms. A closer look reveals La Rose grappling with expressing what she wants, juxtaposed with what she’s being offered.
In the song’s new video, a female protagonist takes that message to heart. A janitor tasked with cleaning up the remnants of a messy office party, our heroine straps on her headphones and escapes into a fantasy ballet sequence with her trusty, banana-yellow vacuum cleaner before going wild back in reality. Toilet paper flies from the ceiling, shredded legal documents become confetti, and La Rose’s elastic vocals take on a much more resonant meaning. Talk about the right video for “The Right Song.” Watch below and root for the small guy for a change.
