Unknown Mortal Orchestra Suffer Modern Maladies in ‘Can’t Keep Checking My Phone’ Video

Part of the sneaky appeal of Unknown Mortal Orchestra‘s brand of bedroom funk revivalism is the creeping anxiety that pervades their tracks. “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone” built itself on the terrible trauma of waiting on a return call or text, and its new video explores, as the band notes, a host of other sicknesses of the modern era. There’s Capgras Syndrome, in which the sufferer thinks a loved one has been replaced with an identical impostor, and Restless Legs Syndrome, among a whole host of others. There’s also brief nudity, so watch with caution, if you happen to work at a place where that might be an issue. Check it out here.
