A new track from Percussions, one of the many names of veteran electronic producer Kieran Hebden (Four Tet being the best-known), was posted to the artist’s SoundCloud this morning. “Digital Arpeggios” lives up to its title, with effervescent staccato synths pinging their way up and down an endlessly looping one-measure hook, over a skipping beat that almost sounds New Jack Swing in nature. The ’80s boombox feel of the first couple minutes is eventually undercut by heavy synth waves bringing a predictable melancholy to the proceedings, but the song is still one of the catchiest in Hebden’s discography.
