Sam Smith Snares John Legend for Charity Remake of ‘Lay Me Down’

All proceeds from the song will aid Comic Relief

In honor of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day in the United Kingdom, Sam Smith and recent Oscar winner John Legend have teamed up for a new version of the former’s “Lay Me Down.” Their voices work remarkably well together, as both possess the creamy harmonies that adult contemporary pop often relies upon. Produced by Jimmy Napes, the updated version of “Lay Me Down” will see all its profits going to Comic Relief, and both singers have also forgone any of the track’s royalties.

“Sam is such a talented artist,” Legend said in a statement. “We’ve been looking forward to working together for a while now. I’m so glad we could collaborate on such a great song and for such a great cause.” Stream the track above and buy it on iTunes to support the cause.
