Jay Electronica Comes Back Swinging With Jay Z on ‘Road to Perdition’

Stream the fiery new track, and keep the prayer emoji hands going for a new album

On “Road to Perdition,” Roc Nation’s Jay Electronica shows the world that sure, you can promise an album for years and never deliver one, but as long as you churn out fire-laced tracks like this one — which also features his famous friend Jay Z, who previously teamed up with the rapper on the “We Made It” remix — all can be forgiven. With an intro by Ronald Reagan (sure) and a abbreviated chorus by Hov, Electronica keeps the pace rolling with impassioned lyrics about his tribulation-studded path to success: “A thousand kisses to the haters cause they made me greater / A thousand wishes from a million slaves could raise a savoir / A thousand disses to these dickheads at these major labels,” he rhymes. Stream the new one below, and look for his long-awaited Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn) to impact, oh, let’s say February 2017.
