Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen Joke About Sleater-Kinney on ‘Conan’

Armisen wants to be a merch guy on the tour

Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen work together on the hilarious IFC show Portlandia, but Brownstein is obviously also a co-frontwoman of the recently reunited indie-punk legends Sleater-Kinney. Somebody should probably tell Armisen that, because when the pair went on Conan last night the comedian jumped at the chance to answer Conan O’Brien’s question about the upcoming tour.

“There’s no differentiation between Fred and I,” Brownstein said. “He really assumes he’s part of the reunion, and he’s offered to come on tour with us.” Armisen explained that he wants to be a roadie, even though — and this is a small problem — he “can’t lift anything.” Both Brownstein and Armisen eventually agreed that he could sell merchandise, and he showcased his t-shirt sizing skills to prove it.
