Proto-Punks Death Honor Fallen Brother in New Music Video

death were going to make it video

Once-obscure ’70s proto-punk trio Death have finally begun getting the attention they deserve. Detroit’s Hackney brothers — Bobby, David, and Dannis — belatedly found their audience via reunion shows, Bobby’s sons carrying the family legacy forth with the band Rough Francis, an excellent documentary called A Band Called Death, and of course the Drag City album Death III, which pulled a solid collection of songs previously unheard from the group’s past.

One of the tracks on that recent release is “We’re Going to Make It,” and as Stereogum reports, it’s the last song David wrote before he was lost to lung cancer in 2000. Above you can watch a brand new video for that song, which sets family photos and footage from A Band Called Death to the sentimental song. In all, the clip functions as a gentle remembrance of the band’s lost brother — a touching tribute, even for those not yet familiar with the band’s story.
