!!! (Chk Chk Chk) will trot out their brilliantly titled fifth album, THR!!!ER, on Warp Records April 30, and to make good on last month’s 30-second preview, the band has shared its first taste, “Slyd.” Conceived as a “tribute to sample-based club-floor classics,” according to a statement from Warp, “Slyd” pulses with slinking “samples” crafted by !!! themselves to avoid the tricky clearing process. Filling out this ’90s-nodding, sweat-soaked groove — which is one of the few THR!!!ER tracks not produced by Spoon’s Jim Eno — are looped-in vocals by singer Teresa Eggers and Molly Schnick. (Schnick played with !!! singer Nic Offer in the now-defunct electronic band Out Hud.)
And, as previously promised, !!! are bringing their dance-punk party on the road this spring. The band have revealed that after a February 28 gig at San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival, they’ll trek through parts of Europe in April and May, and then tour North America for the remainder of May and beginning of June. More concerts in support of the Michael Jackson-referencing LP will be announced in the future.
