Moogfest Announces 2012 Lineup: Santigold, Primus, GZA

Moogfest, the annual music festival that memorializes electronic music pioneer Bob Moog, will return to the city of Asheville, North Carolina on October 26 and 27 with perhaps its most diverse lineup yet. Santigold, Miike Snow, Primus 3D and electronic music all-stars like Panther du Prince, Squarepusher, Orbital and Carl Craig lead this year’s bill, along with the Magnetic Fields, Four Tet, and Explosions in the Sky. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 10th at the festival’s website.

The 2012 Moogfest, which takes place at various venues throughout Asheville, will also feature a hip-hop lineup boasting El-P, Killer Mike, and GZA performing his classic Liquid Swords. As in years past, some of the artists participating in the festival will also likely stop by the Moog Sound Lab to re-imagine some of their songs using the unique instruments Moog innovated. GZA possibly using a Minimoog Voyager for a new rendition of “Killah Hills 10304”? Sign us up!

Until then, check out Megafaun, Little Dragon, the Antlers and Twin Shadow‘s Moog Sound Lab performances from last year’s festival.
