David Byrne’s iPhone Satire, Rapture Stream + More

  • David Byrne will take part in an exhibition next month at New York’s Pace Gallery titled Social Media, where the Talking Heads frontman will unveil a series of satirical iPhone apps. Among his creations: Weaselface (which adds “snark and satire to any written word — including the Bible!) and Invisible Me (which “replies to your email and texts, even if you’re not at home!”). Preview his work over at BoingBoing.

  • The Rapture offered up a live stream last night of their new album In the Grace of Your Love, which was broadcast via turntable from their label offices at DFA. Check out the full stream below.

  • Tony Iommi denied reports yesterday that Black Sabbath will reunite with the original line-up, featuring Ozzy Osbourne. After a report surfaced in the U.K.’s Birmingham Mail, the guitarist posted a note on his website saying his quotes were taken from a June interview. “[I] was merely speculating, shooting the breeze, on something al of us get asked constantly…Thanks to the Internet, its gone round the world as some sort of ‘official’ statement on my part, absolute nonsense.” [Tony Iommi]

  • Tom Waits will release a new single titled “Bad as Me” on August 23, according to a listing on Amazon. Waits himself hasn’t directly confirmed whether that’s the case, but on his Twitter, the singer-songwriter wrote, “There have been rumblings and rumors. New music, you say? Come to on 8/23, and Mr. Waits himself will set the record straight.”

  • Clipse‘s Pusha T has teamed up with Kanye West and Young Jeezy for a new single titled “Amen.” The track is available for download at the G.O.O.D. Music blog.
