Mew to Release New Album in August

Danish prog-rock band Mew will return with their third studio album August 25, and its title is just as epic as the band’s arena-filling anthems. Ready? It’s called:

No more stories
Are told today
I’m sorry
They washed away

No more stories
The world is grey
I’m tired
Let’s wash away

Wow. What exactly do the put in the water in Copenhagen, anyway?

The new album — the follow-up to their breakout 2006 release And the Glass Handed Kites — was recorded primarily in Brooklyn last summer with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Glasvegas, NIN).’s Peter Gaston visited the band in the recording studio last fall while they were mixing the album and heard two new tracks, including a song called “Cartoons and Papier Mache” (now called “Cartoons and Macramé Wounds”), a “challenging, five-minute opus that launches headlong into a throbbing, percussive workout, layered densely with aggressive, metallic guitar strums and bass bursts.”

“One the reasons we make music and what we think is exciting about making music is to do new things and put ourselves into places where we don’t necessarily feel safe,” singer Jonas Bjerre told Gaston.

Before the full-lengths release, Mew will drop No More Stories, an EP out June 30. It will include 2 new tracks from the upcoming, plus three B-sides.
