Bruce Springsteen Unveils New Jersey Gigs; Mountain Goats Map ’08 Tour

Surely pleasing the state’s fanatically devoted fan base, Spin cover boy Bruce Springsteen has announced a handful of summer gigs in the promise land: New Jersey. The proud Garden State-bred rocker and his E Street Bandwill hit Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ for a three-day run –July 28, 28, and 31. The Boss, who is the number one selling artist atthe Meadowland compound with 66 sold-out shows to date, is currentlytouring in support Magic,his latest record out now courtesy of Columbia. Fans can pick uptickets beginning Dec. 15 at noon, exclusively via Ticketmaster.

In related news, iTunes will release an exclusive package of “Girls In Their Summer Clothes,” the latest single from Magic,at a yet-to-be announced date later this month. The package, inaddition to arriving with a standard rendition of the tune, willfeature the new video for the song, directed by Mark Pellington, plus a”Winter Mix” and audio of a live concert performance.

Mountain Goats Map 2008 Tour

As you may remember, arena rockers Queen are clearly to blame for the delayed arrival of the Mountain Goats‘ forthcoming album, Heretic Pride,their sixteenth studio LP to date due Feb. 19 via 4AD. But, as you mayhave heard, all good things come to those who wait. That said, JohnDarnielle and crew have unveiled a string of West Coast dates insupport of the album. The 10-date jaunt, set to kick off in Anchoragethe day of the album’s release, will hit Seattle, Portland, and thenroll down to San Francisco for a three gigs before wrapping withback-to-back sets in West Hollywood. Velvet Revolver Plot New Year’s Eve Show, Play Pilots, Roses Tunes

Fans looking to ring in the New Year with tunes from Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses are in luck, for Velvet Revolver, you know, the hard rockin’ supergroup featuring former Pilots frontman Scott Weiland and three original Roses, including Slash, will hit New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom Dec. 31 and play tunes both new and old. According to a press release, the star studded quintet will roll through material from debut record Contraband, and new set Libertad, plus “songs from the members’ respective bodies of work.”
