Lollapalooza Launches Talent Contest

Attention struggling bands! Lollapalooza is offering you the opportunity to deliver your music to thousands during this summer’s festival installment, slated for Aug. 3-5 at Chicago’s Grant Park. Simply visit lollapalooza.mp3.com and upload a demo mp3 of one of your band’s best tunes before the competition kicks off June 1.

The contest will run in four rounds: Round one, concluding June 30, will tally the number of votes each band attains via Lollapalooza’s website. From there, the 100 top bands will enter round two and will be whittled down to the 20 best by festival founder and alt-rock statesman Perry Farrell. Next, round three, the top 20 bands will be asked to upload additional mp3s, and again the voting will be handed over to the public.

Finally, the top five winners will be flown to Chicago for a performance at the Windy City’s Double Door venue Aug. 1. The five bands will vie for two performing slots, one of which will be chosen by Farrell and a panel of celebrity of judges, and the other by the venue’s audience.
