Brit alt-rockers Placebo have announced a North American tour set to kick off April 5 in Providence, RI. From there, the 18-date outing will lead the trio throughout the eastern seaboard and across the northern border for two gigs. Next, Placebo will dash across America’s mid-section, descend the West Coast and wrap with a few gigs inland, including a performance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival April 29.

In additional tour news, Parisian-born Latin vocalist Manu Chao (a.k.a. Jose-Manuel Thomas Arthur Chao) has announced a 16-date tour of the U.S., BrooklynVegan.com reports. In addition to the previously confirmed festival performances at Coachella (Apr. 29), Washington State’s Sasquatch! (May 26), and Bonnaroo (June 15), Manu Chao has confirmed a handful of dates for late spring and summer.
The multilingual folky will swing through cities like San Diego, New Orleans, and Chicago as well as Detroit, Boston, and Brooklyn before concluding the jaunt June 29 at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory venue.
