Mew to Release ‘Frengers’ Stateside

Danish soundscape rockers Mew will release their critically acclaimed 2003 release, Frengers, for the first time in America on Jan. 23. Released across Europe and the U.K. in April 2003, Frengers landed the Copenhagen-based act awards for both Band of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2003 Danish Music Critics Awards. An album title described by the band as “not quite a friend but not quite a stranger,” Frengers delivered new material in addition to re-workings of songs pulled from Mew’s first two limited release albums, 1997’s A Triumph For Man and 2000’s Half the World Is Watching Me. SPIN.com developed a mild obsession this summer with the first two tracks off Frengers: “Am I Wry, No” and “156.”
