Detroit’s Hard Lessons Educate

With the release of the Wise Up! EP, Detroit’s newest bluesy, garage-door rockers the Hard Lessons are set for a hometown jailbreak. Fronted by singer/guitarist Augie and bassist Ko Ko Louise and anchored by a drummer simply known as “The Anvil,” the Motor City trio are looking to go stride for stride with fellow Michiganders the White Stripes and Von Bondies. Wise Up!‘s “Bamboo,” a racy bash and crash groove laden in guitar and vocal hooks, was featured in Spin‘s December issue Spin Mix (read more) and is a solid testimony to the trio’s infectious sound. And with a sold-out homecoming Christmas show tonight opening for OK Go and My Chemical Romance plus a tune that graced the TV series Friday Night Lights, it’s safe to say that the Hard Lessons will be spreading their syllabus in even wider release.
