Travis Barker Breaks Arm at Video Shoot, Hangs with Babies

With the start of his band’s tour a week away, (+44) drummer Travis Barker has been instructed to take a leave of absence from the kit to let his broken arm heal. Barker suffered the injury while filming the clip for the band’s single, “When Your Heart Stops Beating,” then worsened his condition by playing the band’s European promo tour “in the worst pain I’ve experienced ever,” Barker wrote on his MySpace page.

After having the pain checked out by doctors in London (the British doc said he couldn’t figure out what exactly happened) and Los Angeles, Barker found out he’d “been playing with a broken arm for three weeks and/or [had a] possible tumor in [his] arm.” The drummer has been told to ditch his vegetarian diet, which he’s been on for 16 years, and start eating meat “’cause [vegetarianism is] making my bones weak.”

“I’m at a loss of words, just taking everything one day at a time,” he continued. “I never thought I’d break a bone from playing my drums too hard/too long…everything happens for a reason. I’m gonna spend the next 6 weeks with my babies and producing….see you @ a show soon. PS – I’m attempting to learn the set with one arm for (+44) shows so don’t count me out yet.”

The (+44) tour kicks off Oct. 13 in San Diego.

Talk: If Rick Allen (Def Leppard’s one-armed drummer) can do it, can’t Travis?
